About Us

Brookfield School of Performing Arts is a traditional, perfomance-based dance studio that focuses on educating students in the art of dance and the performing arts. For us, it's all about movement as an art form. For more than a decade we've worked to involve, teach and inspire dancers of all kinds to be lovers of movement.

Deanne is the owner and Artistic Director of the Brookfield School of Performing Arts which opened in September of 2004. Now in it's 14th year, BSPA remains one of the few traditional, performance-based schools to offer the highest quality dance training in a nurturing and professional environment for both the recreational and serious-minded student. Many of Deanne's former students have gone on to professional performing and teaching careers in Dance while others continue to dance simply for their love of the art.

With more than 40 years of dance experience, Deanne trained in NYC and was one of only 75 students accepted to the original LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts Dance Department (the FAME School) where she majored in Ballet and minored in Modern. While at P.A., Deanne studied at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and Christine Neubert. Deanne continues her studies in CT with Mimi Wallace and attends annual Dance Conventions through Dance Educators of America for which she has been a member since 1984 after receiving her certification to teach by test from former President, Vikki Sheer.

With more than 30 years of teaching experience, Deanne has worked with students of all ages and abilities. In 2006, Deanne co-founded Theater Connection which debuted its first production of A Midsummer Night's Dream: The Fairies in March 2006. In December 2007, Theater Connection presented its first 'Tis the Season - Holiday Show. Now part of the BSPA family, 'Tis the Season continues to be a yearly tradition donating the proceeds of it's opening night benefit Performance to Ann's Place, "The Home of I Can" for the past 10 years.

Deanne is a CT State Certified Coach and co-coached the Brookfield High School Dance Team with Linda Davies from 2005-2012. During this time the team won the CT State Dance Team Championships for 5 Consecutive years. Deanne also served as the teams Head Coach from the 2013-2015 seasons and is excited to be coaching once again this year.

We believe that our studio should be a place of comfort, family, and community. We know the time we spend with our students is invaluable and it is our hope that we can impart life skills, ethics and knowledge that they will carry with them always. As a studio, we are passionate about our craft and believe in giving back to the community in which we live and work. It is our privilege to impart the love to dance on each of our students, and we look forward to continuing to do so in the coming years.
